The number of New Yorkers making $200,000 or more increased by roughly 52,000 between 2008 and 2012. A total of 373,283 taxpayers earned more than $200,000 in 2012, the most recent year for which data is available from the state Department of Taxation and Finance.
The table below shows the number of 2012 taxpayers in each New York county, broken down into three categories: Those who earned between $200,000 and $500,000, those who earned between $500,000 and $1 million, and those who earned more than $1 million. The remaining columns show the total number of people earning more than $200,000 for the years 2008 to 2011.
For privacy reasons, the state does not report the actual number of taxpayers within a group when that number is less than 10. Any value listed as zero in the table below may actually be anywhere from zero to nine.
